Awash with apathy

At the end of third year, I was a credit to the strange breed that is the final year law student. I could work all hours of the day, spurn meals without notice and type until my hand cramped up. My crowning glory was 30 hours straight work, at which point I handed in my essay. Then I went to the pub.

Now however, I just feel at a loss. I have lost my drive; for nearly two whole weeks now I have almost completely failed to work. Instead I procrastinate, surrounded by an ever increasingly large pile of washing and general detritus.

I have lost my fire! I need something to bring it back.

Scotch, anyone?

  1. Sounds like you need more FEAR! That's the primary reason for doing anything isn't it? W

  2. Ha, yes there is that. The fear is certainly one of my greatest motivators. I believe there is a great Calvin and Hobbes strip that sums it up perfectly:

Calvin : You can't just turn on creativity like a faucet. You have to be in the right mood.
Hobbes : What mood is that?
    Calvin : Last-minute panic.

  3. Everyone gets to the stage where they feel they can't be bothered and do all the different odd jobs around the house. I only things I have ever found to get me more motivated are fear and tricking myself into fear - oh and having a spotless home and blocking myself from the router (as tidying and internet are my main sources of procrastination).

  4. I was going to comment and suggest what to do, but to be honest, I can't be bothered.

I think I will join you in the Scotch.
